Senior Database Administrator

About the role

Playtech’s Infrastructure unit is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimise its global database platform. You will work with high‑volume PostgreSQL and MariaDB environments, ensuring stability, performance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate daily database platform tasks from initial setup to tooling development.
• Manage high‑volume databases in a complex, multi‑component environment.
• Plan and execute database administration activities to maximise stability and availability.
• Install, upgrade and maintain high‑availability database solutions.
• Develop automation, monitoring and other tooling to streamline operations.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to resolve production incidents.

Required profile

• Expert‑level knowledge of PostgreSQL and MariaDB administration.
• Strong understanding of networking and Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Team‑player attitude with openness to new approaches.
• Proactive problem‑solver who investigates root causes.
• Continuous learner with strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent scripting skills (Python, Bash or similar) for automation.
