Principal AI/ML Scientist & Engineer

About the role

Pipedrive, a cloud-based CRM trusted by over 100,000 companies worldwide, is looking for a Principal AI/ML Scientist & Engineer to lead a growing team of Applied Scientists and AI/ML Engineers. The role suits a pragmatic "Builder-Scientist" who combines deep scientific rigor with a focus on shipping data products that customers love. You will lead the technical strategy for AI/ML solutions that extract value from structured and unstructured data, bridging research and production systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Applied Scientists and AI/ML engineers, fostering technical excellence and scientific rigor.
• Define the technical strategy for AI/ML solutions that turn structured CRM data and unstructured content into actionable insights.
• Build intelligence inside the AI-native CRM, including autonomous agentic workflows and real-time reasoning engines that act safely at scale.
• Work closely with the AI Platform team on LLM operations (LLMOps), so infrastructure supports efficient experimentation and robust deployment.
• Design AI systems optimized for customer centricity and real-world performance.
• Shape the AI engineering roadmap and act as a technical authority across the AI/ML and data ecosystem.
• Contribute as a high-impact individual contributor while delegating and growing the team's capabilities.

Required profile

• 8+ years of applied science or engineering experience with a practical understanding of the full ML and AI lifecycle in high-scale production environments.
• Proven ability to lead and scale a technical team, mentoring senior talent.
• Deep knowledge of modern AI engineering, with hands-on experience in agentic system orchestration (e.g. LangGraph), RAG architectures and vector databases.
• Broad exposure to ML, Deep Learning and AI, with a sense of the trade-offs between models and frameworks.
• Ability to turn technical choices into tangible improvements for users, and to lead through influence and technical authority.
• Legal right to work in Estonia without visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
