Senior Backend Engineer (C#/.NET)

About the role

Riverty, a FinTech company within the Bertelsmann group, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (C#/.NET) to join its Stockholm or Tallinn location. The role sits in a new, fast-growing product and technology organisation and offers hybrid working conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and ship robust, maintainable and readable software, applications, APIs and other workflows.
• Take part in technical architecture design and communicate it.
• Join regular scrum ceremonies as a member of an agile cross-functional team.
• Analyse and implement business requirements while documenting systems and components.
• Improve the codebase and architecture with industry standards and best practices, and share feedback on organisational and industry practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with C# and the .NET framework.
• EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Estonia.
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• Cloud-based application development and microservices and distributed architectures.
• RESTful APIs and relational databases, preferably SQL Server, with ORM experience such as Entity Framework.
• Messaging platforms in distributed systems (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• FinTech and banking experience is a plus; Azure experience is a bonus.
• AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor or GitHub Copilot is a plus.

The team builds cloud-native solutions on Azure, using Terraform for infrastructure, Kubernetes for deployment.NET Core, RESTful APIs, TypeScript/Angular or Stencil frontends, automated tests at every layer and a growing microservice ecosystem.
