Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d)

About the role

Moss, a finance AI platform for mid-sized European businesses, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Accounting tribe in Tallinn. Working closely with designers, product managers and frontend engineers, you will help turn innovative ideas into products that automate and simplify everyday business tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of the application so it meets product requirements, performance and usability standards, and regularly update product managers and designers on progress.
• Partner with product managers and designers at project kick-offs to understand the vision and user needs, and give input on refining UI/UX concepts.
• Work with frontend engineers to define required APIs and functionality, keeping communication clear so frontend and backend integrate smoothly.
• Write well-tested, reliable code, including unit and functional (end-to-end) tests.
• Help devise rollout strategies for new features and monitor performance and user feedback to spot and fix issues early.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, leading projects end-to-end to launch.
• Fluent English.
• Understanding of development design patterns and techniques, including REST API design principles.
• Hands-on experience with testing approaches and libraries (unit testing, integration testing).

Required skills

• Java development technologies, including the Spring framework, and best practices such as microservices, message queues, alerting, reliability and feature flags.
• Testing approaches and libraries (unit testing, integration testing).
