Software Engineer - Camera Systems

About the role

DefSecIntel Solutions builds defence and security systems for Europe's border security, defence and critical infrastructure protection, including autonomous surveillance systems, unmanned surface vessels and counter-UAS solutions. It is looking for a Software Engineer to take ownership of its camera systems and drive their integration and continuous improvement, working with real-world autonomous systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve camera software solutions using Python and C++ where needed
• Take end-to-end ownership of camera systems, including new integrations, maintenance and performance improvements
• Integrate and configure cameras, sensors and video streaming pipelines
• Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable and well-tested software
• Troubleshoot and optimise camera systems in simulated and real-world environments
• Improve performance and reliability through data-driven engineering
• Work with robotics, hardware, QA and product development teams
• Contribute to software architecture, automated testing, Docker environments and CI/CD processes

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience with Python or C++
• At least 1 year of practical experience with camera and video streaming systems
• Experience with at least one computer vision or video processing framework (OpenCV, FFmpeg, GStreamer, DeepStream or similar)
• Practical experience with Docker
• Understanding of camera systems, including lenses, zoom, exposure and video streaming
• Experience in a data-driven development environment

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with ROS
• Experience developing or optimising low-latency video streaming systems
• Knowledge of mathematical camera models and optics
