Freelance Accountant – Estonian Bookkeeping and Tax

About the role

Acctally is accounting software for companies and the accounting firms that serve them; it turns invoices, bank lines and payments into finished books and tax returns, and files KMD and TSD with EMTA. Many of its users are founders, not accountants, so the company wants to work with a freelance accountant. The arrangement is remote, about 10 to 20 hours a month to start, at €25 to €40 per hour depending on experience, and can grow if it works well for both sides.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the books for client companies using Acctally: monthly close, bank matching, VAT and payroll.
• Prepare and file KMD, KMD INF, TSD and VD, and handle corrections and EMTA questions.
• Tell the team where the product gets it wrong; every manual fix made is a feature the company should build.
• Answer customer questions that need an accountant's judgement.

Required profile

• 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting in Estonia.
• Strong knowledge of Estonian VAT: reverse charge, intra-Community supply, credit notes, lines 10 and 11.
• Experience filing KMD and TSD in e-MTAS.
• Estonian and English.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software and opinions on what it gets wrong.

Invoices are sent as an FIE or through your own company, or via a service contract (käsundusleping).
