Principal DevOps Engineer

About the role

Malwarebytes is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join its Consumer team. You will architect and manage the AWS infrastructure using Terraform, enforce cloud security best practices, drive CI/CD automation and own site reliability for production systems. You will also mentor engineers, advise executive leadership on platform strategy and lead cross-functional infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the AWS infrastructure with Terraform, applying least-privilege IAM, network segmentation, secrets management and compliance guardrails.
• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, including SAST, secrets detection and container image scanning.
• Proactively fix cloud misconfigurations and partner with the Security team on vulnerability management and incident response.
• Define SLOs, build alerting and observability with CloudWatch and run blameless post-mortems.
• Take part in on-call rotation and own production incidents end to end.
• Maintain build and release environments and develop automation and test tooling for client applications.
• Evaluate new DevOps tools through proof of concept, keep documentation and runbooks current, and mentor engineers and review code.
• Interface with executive leadership on platform strategy and investment, and lead cross-functional infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• 10+ years of hands-on DevOps or SRE experience, with at least 5 years running production workloads in AWS at scale.
• BA/BS in Engineering or Computer Science preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
• Ideal candidates hold an AWS Professional certification (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Professional or equivalent).
• Proven technical leadership, mentorship and ability to influence architecture across teams.

Required skills

• AWS services: EC2, ECS, ECR, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, EKS, CloudFront.
• Deep Terraform expertise and strong GitHub Actions experience; Jenkins a plus.
• Cloud security with GuardDuty, Security Hub, Config and SCPs.
• Scripting in Python, Go or Bash; Linux administration and Docker; Windows Server and containers a plus.
• SRE practices: SLOs, observability and post-mortems.
• Active daily use of AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.

• Annual compensation of EUR 70,000 to 87,000 depending on location and experience.
