Product Engineer - Fintech

About the role

Iute Group, a fast-growing fintech founded in 2008 in Estonia and operating in Albania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Ukraine, is looking for a Product Engineer to join an early-stage initiative. You will help design and build core systems from the ground up, working hands-on across backend and frontend and collaborating closely with product and business experts. Ownership of features and product outcomes, and the chance to work with greenfield technology, are central to the role.

Key responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of product outcomes, from understanding customer problems with product and business stakeholders to shaping practical solutions.
• Contribute to product discovery, challenge assumptions and help define what should be built.
• Build rapid prototypes and experiments to validate ideas before full-scale solutions.
• Build and maintain backend services in Java and Spring Boot, and ship modern user interfaces.
• Work with scalable systems, databases and microservice-based architectures, and use customer feedback and product data to improve features after launch.
• Make pragmatic technical and product trade-offs to deliver customer value quickly.

Required profile

• Strong experience in backend development with Java and Spring Boot, and experience building and shipping modern user interfaces.
• Strong product thinking, connecting technical decisions with customer and business value.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a bias towards shipping, learning and iterating on real customer feedback.
• Ability to communicate with business stakeholders and make good judgments about when to build robustly, simplify or experiment.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; a background in fintech is a plus.

The hiring process has three stages: an initial screening call, a combined company-fit and technical interview of about 1.5-2 hours, and a meeting with the Engineering or Hiring Manager. The role is full-time and on-site in Tallinn.
