Senior Data Scientist, Micromobility

About the role

Bolt is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join its micromobility engineering group, working alongside software engineers, product managers and data scientists on the machine learning that runs the business. You will own specific models and projects across three lines, each with systems already in production: operations (vehicle deployment, rebalancing and battery swaps), scale (image and sensor data for rider safety and regulatory compliance) and pricing.

Key responsibilities

• Own ML systems from notebook prototype to deployed, monitored and retrained service, keeping mature ones healthy and building new ones
• Design, train and deploy models on tabular, image, video and sensor data, choosing the right tool for each
• Turn modelling output into operational and pricing rules with clear economics, validated through experiments and quasi-experimental analysis
• Work with software engineers, product managers, operations and the ML platform team to productionise and monitor ML solutions
• Write documentation, runbooks and diagnostics so others can operate and extend the systems

Required profile

• 5+ years in applied data science or ML engineering, ideally in a product setting
• Proven hands-on experience building ML systems end to end, including testing, monitoring, scaling and measuring impact
• Strong product sense and proactive ownership, able to turn ambiguous problems into measurable solutions
• Adaptable in a small team, covering modelling, pipeline engineering, stakeholder work and mature system maintenance

Required skills

• Python and SQL/PySpark, with clean code practices
• Modern ML tooling and cloud infrastructure (AWS, SageMaker, Airflow, Docker, MLflow)
• A deep learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX
• Experimentation design and causal inference
