Senior Software Engineer - Fincrime Reporting

About the role

Wise is hiring a full-stack Product Engineer for its FinCrime Reporting team in Tallinn. The team sits between Wise's financial crime investigators and external Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) and aims to automate the end-to-end process of generating and submitting suspicious activity reports, so that reports are faster, more accurate and fully auditable.

Key responsibilities

• Build reliable full-stack systems for suspicious activity reporting, from back-end services and data to the back-office interfaces used by specialists.
• Own components and medium-sized projects end to end: design, implementation, deployment and ongoing production support.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Compliance and Data Analysts to remove manual steps and measure the impact of your work.
• Bring AI capabilities into production, with attention to correctness, evaluation, traceability and human oversight.
• Write well-tested, maintainable code and improve reliability, security and quality through code reviews, documentation and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience building backend, distributed or data-intensive systems with relational databases and asynchronous messaging.
• Ability to deliver medium-sized projects independently and operate production systems, including testing, monitoring and on-call duty.
• Attention to detail, a product mindset and clear communication and collaboration.
• No prior AML or financial crime experience required; domain knowledge is learned on the job.

Required skills

• Java and Spring Boot for the back end, with SQL databases; experience with Go, Python or C# is welcome.
• React and TypeScript for the front end.
• Docker and AWS; LLM workflows run in Python on Wise's internal AI platform.
• Nice to have: Python for LLM development and integration with external partners.
