Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Platform

About the role

Wise is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its team of DevOps Engineers. The team maintains, supports and grows Wise's Kubernetes-based compute platform. You will lead, design and implement automation around Kubernetes installation, maintenance and monitoring, including building microservices, APIs, workflows and documentation. You will mentor colleagues, lead projects and take ownership of initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Innovate and implement automation at infrastructure (AWS) and application level, reducing manual overhead, speeding up deployments and improving system resilience.
• Take ownership of significant system components, designing scalable solutions that handle complex operational loads with high reliability and security.
• Lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge, mentoring peers and refining engineering practices.
• Lead initiatives that expand cloud-native capabilities, such as developing Kubernetes operators and enhancing the service mesh infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of full-proficiency experience in AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform and Golang.
• Strong background in building mission-critical cloud-native back-end systems.
• Experience with LLM-assisted coding practices and tools (e.g. Codex, Cursor).
• Nice to have: mentoring skills, Kubernetes administration, workflow design with Temporal, full-stack experience and team or project management experience.
