Senior Software Engineer – Machine Learning Platform

About the role

Wise is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and maintain a cost‑efficient, scalable Machine Learning Platform. The platform enables data scientists to develop, deploy, serve, and monitor models that power critical decisions across the business, from fraud detection to product personalization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate core backend services for model serving, training pipelines, experiment tracking, and feature management.
• Ensure the platform is reliable, performant, and cost‑effective at scale.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to shorten the experimentation feedback loop.
• Maintain platform observability, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee high availability.
• Drive platform evolution from a collection of tools to a cohesive, self‑service ecosystem.

Required profile

• Strong background in production backend engineering with significant experience in Java or Python.
• Proven ability to build and operate large‑scale infrastructure or platform services.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment with internal customers.
• Interest in machine‑learning systems, even if not previously specialized.
